What to do with the tire?

When we were in Grants Pass, after losing the wheel/tire on I-5 (http://trekincartwrights.blogspot.com/2017/10/our-day.html), we had to get a new wheel and tire put on. We were not able to get the Michelin tire that we wanted, so we opted to get an off-brand cheaper tire instead, with the plan to get the desired Michelin tire later when we were stopped in Yuma. We did this on Tuesday (http://trekincartwrights.blogspot.com/2018/02/to-dos-getting-to-done.html).

Because of the challenge in getting the size tire that Miss Doozie needs, we had decided to try to carry the off-brand tire with us in case we ever need another tire at some random location in the future. Unfortunately, the tire is very large (the original source of the name "Miss Doozie" was the size of her tires) and very heavy. We can fit it into the back of the Jee-rage, but it pretty much takes up the whole space. We'd like to store it on the roof of Miss Doozie, but getting it up there is going to be interesting...

Dwayne has thought of a couple of options:
  • Building a teeter-totter and he and I jump from the stone wall near our campsite on one side of the teeter-totter while the tire is on the other side, thus flipping the tire onto the roof.
  • Get a hot-air balloon to lift it up.
  • Hire someone with a fork-lift to lift it up.
I got an email about events for the weekend in Yuma and it included this:
Notice that one of the events is "Tire Flip"!
I suggested that we go to the event and get into conversation with some of the competitors - suggest that they should come down and see who could "flip" the tire onto the roof of Miss Doozie. No registration fee required! Don't you think that has possibilities?

Also on Tuesday - Miss Doozie was *thirsty!*

After the tire shop, we stopped at a fueling station that had specific pumps for RVs...
We had stopped by this station and checked out the diesel prices. They were within reason and it was easy for a big rig to get in and out of within the truck area at the back of the station.

My sweetie putting in the fuel...

$2.779 /gallon wasn't the best rate in town, but the place with the best rate would have been extremely hard to get Miss Doozie in/out of (Fry's grocery store).

The gauge had said that we were down to just 1/4 full, but she only took 153 gallons. In the information that we have about Miss Doozie, in one place it says that the fuel tank is 300 gallons, in another it shows 260 gallons. Based on experience (gauge reading vs amount to fill), I'm guessing that the tank size is 260 gallons.
As it turned out, since we were fueling an RV, we got 8 cents off a gallon per Arizona law - so the per gallon price was $2.699 and the total purchase was $413.42 instead of $425.66.

To-do's getting to-done!

On Tuesday, we had an appointment...
At Redburn Tire Company...

With Miss Doozie...

... to get a new tire on the tag axle to replace the off brand tire we had had since Grants Pass (when we were not able to get the Michelin tire we wanted). We had ordered the Michelin tire to be delivered to Redburn and had an early morning (7am) appointment to get it installed. By the way, it is DARK here at 6:30am when we left the camp site to drive over to Redburn!

I watched one of the workers use this device on someone else's mounted tire - it had a winch that lifted the tire and wheel up into the pool of water, and then the contraption over the top pushed it all the way under the water, I think so he could look for air leaks.
Dwayne also replaced the whole house water filter and we've started the project of replacing the screws on the roof of the bus. (Pictures were included in the pictures with Dwayne on his birthday (http://trekincartwrights.blogspot.com/2018/02/happy-birthday-dwayne.html)).

Wet stuff from the sky

Monday afternoon was quite cool in temperatures...
The evening sky definitely showed a front moving in...
I had done this screen shot earlier in the week with the forecast of this thing called "rain" for Wednesday - we've seen this stuff before ("rain", that is), but it isn't very common here in Yuma!
One of the fellows that we talked with at the Arizona Marketplace last week told us that it has not rained at his house (in the Foothills area, where we are staying) for at least a year. Mark, our "landlord" here, indicated that they had gotten about 10 minutes of rain in the past couple of months.

Monday night it rained for about 10 minutes where we are parked. Unfortunately we had a couple of screws out of the roof (so we could have the correct size to get new ones) and had a bit of water leakage inside. :-( Thankfully it wasn't a very long rain!

We got enough rain to thoroughly wet down the sand - making it a perfect medium for my rake-art!

Fulltime Families

There is a Facebook page for Fulltime Families...

I recently found out that our cousins, Brandon and Ashlee, and their two little ones, are the cover picture for the group right now!

I guess that all the members of the group post pictures of their setup, and Brandon and Ashlee's happened to be selected for the cover picture!
I feel like I'm related to celebrities!!!

Three guesses where we went Friday...

And the first two don't count... but you should use this picture for a hint...
Ignore the piece of equipment that was between me and the drawing on the wall! I'm betting the picture tells you!
If you guessed, "You went to Mexico to the dentist!" - you are correct!
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Doctora Lilia this time. The dentist who came in introduced himself as "Jesus" (pronouncing it as English "Jesus"), and said, "I am Jesus and I will be taking care of you!"
I thought about saying, "Oh wow, you've already taken care of me!" but decided that Christian humor might be inappropriate at that time...

Some other photos of the drawings on the ceiling in the room I was in... how many tooth maladies can you identify?

Dwayne and I both got our teeth cleaned. The dentist that saw both of us, Dr Jesus, was concerned about one of my teeth... it had a very large filling and appeared to have some decay around the filling. On the x-ray, they were concerned that the filling was already very close to the root of the tooth, so... they recommended that I go to see another dentist... Dr Mauricio Ruiz... for a...

Any guesses? I'm not sure this is a picture of what I needed... - a root canal.
One of the office staff at Dr Camacho's office led us a short walk around the corner to Dr Mauricio's office. I got a root canal from Dr Mauricio... and then we walked back to Dr Camacho's office where Dr Jesus proceeded to prepare the tooth for a...
Crown!
I currently have a temporary crown, and will go back next week for the permanent crown.

I really like Dr Camacho's office and the doctors I have seen there. And I liked Dr Mauricio too!
