Part 2: A long day: Plank Road, Mexican border fence, Imperial Sand Dunes, desert flora, Quartzsite (again), a blimp and a bridge

By looking at this map, we realized that a road just down from us would lead us north – I was figuring that we would find a road that would take us east to the “bridge to nowhere” – we did, but it wasn’t until we got to I-10! So much for a “short-cut”.

We soon realized as we kept driving north that we were going to be getting to Blythe, CA before we would be heading east (to Quartzsite, AZ), but since we had had rain recently, we decided to continue on to see what the difference might be in the plants in the desert. We saw some beautiful flowering plants!

We got to Quartzsite and stopped for gas and food. While there, we decided to drive back out to the place off of Dome Rock Road where the SW Trek Fun Club had its rally to see if any Treks were still there. We found two Treks there! We stopped to talk to the owners of one of the Treks – they also own a 2004 Trek, but one of the more “traditional” versions with no slide-outs and the bed over the living area in the front, and a huge wonderful bathroom in the back. They have owned their Trek for 10 years (since it was new, I think) but didn’t know about Trek Tracks, so I gave them one of our cards and the URL for Trek Tracks.

We drove down US 95 to get back to Yuma. Along the way, we saw an interesting blimp-looking thing in the sky.

After several hours of driving, we finally got to the “Bridge to Nowhere”. Remind you of any other bridge?
