Atlantic City

We visited Atlantic City on Sunday afternoon... We parked in a lot near the Chelsea Hotel on Chelsea Street.

...on the boardwalk...

The feral cats are being taken care of!

A picture from inside the pier - look at all the people!

As we were starting back toward the Jeep, we passed a Geico booth and a fellow there was saying that the boat races were beginning at 2:30pm. Since it was just a little after 2pm, we decided we'd stay to watch them. They didn't actually start until almost 3pm, but we enjoyed watching them!

Two of the smaller boats racing

"Miss Geico" - one of the biggest boats

Lightning Jacks - another of the biggest boats

"Miss Geico" goes airborne

Warpaint - one of the biggest boats

Miss Geico gaining on Wazzup (a medium sized boat)

Strictly Business gaining on Wazzup (I think these two were both medium sized boats)

Strictly Business passes Wazzup

And Strictly Business heads on out!

My sweetie working his camera!

The "Miss Geico" shore crew was just down from us. Just in front of the guy who is standing up on top of something taking pictures/movies is a guy who is looking into a monitor on a laptop computer. It appeared that they were giving information to the crew of the boat on how far ahead they were.
We also took videos - the sounds of the boats was really loud. When we were on the boardwalk earlier, we could hear the first race - but the dunes blocked our view of the racing boats.

In the first video, you can see boats of all different sizes as they were making a practice loop around the course. You may notice some boats easily going faster than others (that probably are not at their racing speed).

During the actual race, the boats started with other boats of their same class - the biggest boats came first - there were 4 of them. Geico was the one that ended up winning the race, and you can tell even at the beginning that it appeared to have much more capability than the others.

This shows the big boats on the "far" side of the course. You will first see the Geico boat, then the War Paint and Lightning Jacks Marinas. Then the medium sized boats pass from left to right closer to us and finally the last big boat passes on the outside, Alex and Ani.

Geico and Warpaint boats passing on the closer loop. Warpaint always sounded like it was making a different, higher pitched (straining?) engine sound. https://youtu.be/8Ul84d0Iir8

When the larger boats overtook the smaller ones, it really showed how much faster the larger ones were going.https://youtu.be/HjMoWDezcIs
