Crossing the Delaware (Bay, that is!)

We had planned to use the Cape May - Lewes Ferry to cross from Delaware to New Jersey. This morning when we woke up in the WalMart parking lot, it was rather rainy, so we wondered whether it would be a very nice trip, but decided to proceed.

It was a short trip from Georgetown to Lewes, and we got checked in for the ferry. Patti had priced the tickets online, and it would be a few dollars cheaper if the Jeep was detached, but with the rain, we decided to "splurge" (all of $6 worth) and keep them attached.
The fare overall was $4 cheaper than what Patti had found online - because the lady in the booth assumed that Patti was a Senior citizen (even though she had Patti's drivers license and could have checked!). We didn't notice this until we were already on the ferry.

Guys were checking the undercarriage of all vehicles - we were wondering if Jimmy could use these devices to see under Miss Doozie!?!?!?

Miss Doozie was one of the first vehicles boarded. We were concerned that we might have to turn the mirrors in (the website said the maximum width to avoid being charged double was 8'6", and we are over that with the mirrors out) - but they didn't question it.

Miss Doozie had a nice view to be able to help captain the ferry if needed. This was leaving from Lewes, DE.

About an hour later, we are coming up to Cape May, NJ.

The Garmin was confused the whole time, thinking we were out in the middle of Delaware Bay, as the ferry route was hard coded a little different from the route our ferry captain too.

Coming into the ferry terminal area on the Cape May side.
The other passengers on the ferry enjoyed us playing the musical horn with "Anchors Away" as we were leaving Lewes, and "Happy Trails to You" as we were about to disembark.
