Since I (Patti) first read "Anne of Green Gables", somewhere in my 5th-8th grade years, I've wanted to see Prince Edward Island. Yes, I realize it is a fiction book, but it just sounded like such a wonderful place that I wanted to visit. Today was the day!
We drove to the place that Google told us was the address of the guy that Jim (the young man who came by our rig at Walmart last night) recommended for looking at our headlight issue. There was a sign in the window saying that he would be opening about 9:30am and his phone number. Point to remember for future reference: make sure the name of the place matches what you looked up on Google... and that the phone number matches up too... Google sent us to an automotive repair shop, but not the one recommended. When the fellow there arrived at 9:30am, he indicated that working on our headlights was not something he could do, and said, "Were you looking for Jim Nelson?" Evidently we weren't the only ones sent to his address by google... We did another search and found the correct address and headed over there. Unfortunately, by that time it was beginning to rain, and it was about 10am, and they didn't have a place in the shop where they could work on Miss Doozie, so they would not be able to work on the headlights until tomorrow. We reluctantly decided we needed to head on down the road as we had reservations at the Cavendish campground on PEI for tonight... and hope that we could either figure out the problem ourselves or find another mechanic further down the road.
So, today we drove from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, into the eastern edge of New Brunswick, and then across the Confederation Bridge (world's largest bridge over icy waters) onto Prince Edward Island. We drove all the way across from south to north and are on the northern coast of PEI on the Gulf of St Lawrence.

We walked over to the beach --- so pretty! |
|
There are protecting dunes between the campground and the gulf. |
|
There were lots of beautiful rocks... we're not sure how they get there other than it looks like the sea deposits them. It appeared that there were large rocks underwater just off the beach. |
|
Dwayne has two rocks in his hand banging them together as he walks, his own personal percussion section! |
Tomorrow we plan to drive into Charlottetown to get a hitch extender to raise the receiver on the back of the bus. We think that the fact that the back of the bus is low might be causing some of the issues we have had with the tow bar, and we called a place in Charlottetown a couple of days ago and they have the part we need. We'll check out Charlottetown while we're there. The "Anne" musical that runs every summer finished up last weekend, so we won't see that, but many of the "Anne" sites are very near our campground, so we'll be able to check them out over the weekend.
Meanwhile, I'm binge-reading the 8-book "Anne" series on the Kindle reader on my phone...
