Happy to be of assistance!

Niece Ginny called yesterday - when she was leaving the house, the garage door opener allowed her to leave, but would not then shut the door. It appeared that the chain had popped off the sprocket. Dwayne told her how to dis-engage the door from the opener and we listened on the phone while she did it (to make sure it worked ok). It was kinda scarey as we heard all the squealing of the door and were wondering if she was being eaten by the door, but she came back on and told us all was good.

So, later in the afternoon, we headed over there with Dwayne's toolboxes in the Jeep to see if we could get the chain back onto the opener. Turned out that we could, but that wasn't sufficient to do the fix as the part that held the chain was actually also broken. Time to get a new garage door opener.

We researched a replacement and found out that the local Home Depot had it in stock, so, after checking with Josh, proceeded to get the new one. Ginny, Dwayne, and I got it assembled, and just as Josh got home, were ready to start the installation. Good timing as the lifting over the head part could be done by the strong young man!

We were able to use the same wiring as the original garage door opener for the safety sensors, but couldn't get the wall switch to work. We had to pull apart the wiring that was originally there (the builder had used a 6-conductor telephone cable instead of normal 2-wire cable) but the engineering brain of Josh got it figured out.

Ginny made a delicious dinner - chicken breasts with a glaze made from balsamic vinegar and honey - wow - really good! She has obviously inherited her mom's great cooking skills (and the "it's no bother" in being called on to suddenly have 4 people for dinner when she wasn't expecting it!).
