Tie Dying on Thursday

Thursday was scheduled as Tie-Dye Day - so we headed down to the clubhouse in the morning...
Ever-efficient, hostess-with-the-mostest Leslie had the dyes all made up and put into squirt bottles, ready for us...

She also had a magazine/instruction book with some patterns that we could work from or use as inspiration. She also had her own tie-dye shirt on from a previous tie-dye party to give us ideas! Isn't it pretty?

Meanwhile, Larry was available to do re-stringing of shades - we had the re-stringing supplies that we have used on our rig and were able to contribute those.

We were all working diligently together!

Folks brought different things to tie-dye - teeshirts, flour sack towels, handkerchiefs - anything 100% (or nearly 100%) cotton.

Larry was a man on a mission!

The first set of dye-ers (dyers? diers?) were underway outside!

Gloves and aprons to protect hands and clothes...

What design will this make?

Ooooohhhh - that looks neat!

The items were first soaked in a solution of soda ash to remove any sizing or coating on the fabric that would negatively impact the dye absorption.

Everyone had great ideas on what to do!

Some of the inspiration pictures...

I like the shades of blue!

Dwayne liked these colors...

Dwayne jumped in to do the dying on his teeshirt...

He went with multiple colors...

He also did one of the flour sack towels.

"Smile, Honey!"

Genius at work!

Barbara is doing several handkerchiefs with the plan to hang like flags! And you can see Larry down there behind Arla checking out the tie-dying as he has finished all the restringing!

Everyone is SO creative!
We had SUCH a good time. We'll find out on Friday what they all look like!
