Escapees Mail Service

We got our new mail forwarding address set up with the Escapees Mail Forwarding Service in Livingston, TX!

We've told Coppell to temporarily forward our mail to our new address; if/when we sell our Coppell house, this will become our only mailing address. Hopefully all the forwarding is going to happen successfully - the US Post Office said it would take 7-10 days for our mail to get forwarded, so we'll have moved on before any mail arrives here for us.

The operation here is really amazing - they have a huge tractor trailer pull up every day with mail for the folks in the mail forwarding service. They have green pendaflex type folders with each box number, and they sort into those folders. If a folder fills up, they transfer it to a box underneath.

When we want to get our mail (when we know where we're going to be at some point), we call or email and ask them to send it to us. They box up whatever mail we've gotten and send it via 2nd day delivery using USPS. It can go to an address (like a friend or family member if we're going to be visiting) or to general delivery at a post office (and we show up and ask for our mail). I guess some campgrounds allow you to have it sent there also (though I have heard that Thousand Trails campgrounds do not). We pay the postage for them to forward the mail to wherever we are, so it will be a balancing act between getting the mail often enough and not too often. We could sign up for a slightly higher per-year price ($20 more per year) and they would sort it and not send things that we indicate we don't want - the lady who worked with us on setting it up recommended that we go with "forward everything" to begin with and see if the junk mail is enough to make the additional postage we pay more than $20. That seemed like wise counsel, so that's what we have gone with.

They won't take refrigerated or live items (so I can't order any Edwards ham or baby chicks to be sent to our Livingston address...).

We're excited to get this part of our to-do list accomplished!
