This year, for the first time, I delivered the shoeboxes that our group had packed to the collection center. Usually we take them to our church and someone else at the church takes them to another church that collects up the shoeboxes, and does the initial boxing of them into large cardboard boxes to go to the processing center. Since we were away during the collection time, I asked about where they should be taken, and we took them directly to the collection center.
At the collection center church, they had many pews full of shoeboxes.
One of the ladies there said that they would have a "cartoning" party on the Saturday that was coming up, and then pray a blessing over the shoeboxes on Sunday before they would be taken to the processing center on Monday.
