Tucson Wildlife Center

Niece Ginny also volunteers at the Tucson Wildlife Center on Wednesdays, so I drove out to visit her. Dwayne decided to take a day of rest and stayed behind with Miss Daisy.
The center has recently has been able to build a wildlife hospital - it was really nice and a great facility to help with wild animal needs

Wilbur the bobcat - if I remember correctly, he and his litter mates were impacted when construction on a shopping center started right after they were born. He was hit in the head which has given him permanent neurological damage making him unable to be re-released into the wild.

Lightning, a leucistic red tailed hawk

Otto the Horned Owl

Barn Owl

Flight area for large birds (like eagles) to use prior to release. I think the power company donated the big poles and installed them and a local gardening group put in the water feature.
Last year, the center helped over 1600 animals. This shows the number of animals currently on property (which includes the ones that are not release-able). I think that the number for 2015 wasn't totally up-to-date (more than 5 have come in so far this year).
They are having their fund-raiser silent auction coming up in just a few days!
