Patti had been having some concerns and since the first dentist indicated that she may need some additional dental work, we went back to get a second opinion while we were in Yuma. Friends of ours had seen Dr Camacho for a second opinion, so we checked and could get in to see him. We were glad to see on his website that he indicated that he had a periodontist on staff.

Patti got to see Dr Lilia, and was so pleased with the whole experience. Dr Camacho was evidently one of the (or the) founding dentist in the "dental tourism" business in Los Algodones. His daughter, Dr Lilia, also studied dentistry, and specialized in periodontal work. They were both very helpful and gave Patti good advice on what to do.
Patti has receding gums, particularly bad on the right side of her mouth, where her right-handedness causes her to brush too vigorously. Dr Lilia recommended "behavior modification" to press much more gently when brushing, and she also recommended a coating that was put at the gum line along 2-3 teeth upper and lower on the right side. Dr Lilia also took a large number of photographs of Patti's mouth and will compare when Patti returns next year for another checkup. Hopefully we will find that the behavior modification has helped and the gums have not receded any further.
We had the longest wait we'd ever experienced getting back across the border. We think that if we go on a Monday again, we should endeavor to go early in the morning and head back to the US by noon. Otherwise, we've found that going on Thursday did not seem as crowded at all.
