Seaside, Washington

We drove over the coastal mountains to the west coast of Washington today. Based on a recommendation from friends Rick and Jackie, we took Washington 6 to US 101 which allowed us to cross east to west with minimal elevation change required.

We are at Long Beach Thousand Trails campground. The sites are "odd" or, maybe a better term would be "packed in" - 4 sites share one set of utilities. Thankfully, we are here in off season, so the campground is not full - if it were full, we would have a challenge getting into the sites as our back end is behind the utility pole here. This means that if a rig was in the site behind us, they would need to be short to fit, or we'd need to pull forward until our front end was in the roadway in front of us. The thing that makes this setup particularly odd is that, if someone did park in the site behind us, their utility bay would be on the far side of their rig from the utility pole - so they would need to run their electric cord, water hose, and sewer hose under their rig to get to the utility area (and they would have to run it down beside or under Miss Doozie too since we're taking up a foot or two behind the utility pole.

There's Miss Doozie with the Jeep parked in front - I guess if the Jeep fits there, she could pull forward the width of the Jeep and not be in the roadway... and we could just park the Jeep somewhere else. I took this picture from...

...the entrance to the path to the beach...

300 yards or a leisurely 10 minute walk away.

It is a nice path - gets sandier and a bit harder to walk on the further you go, but then again...

...you get to the beach! Looking south down the beach.

The waves were so beautiful.

Looking north up the beach.

Dwayne was daring the waves to make him move... and they did a couple of times!

I loved the look of the clouds reflected in the remnants of the waves on the sand. There were a couple of other people and 3 gulls out on the beach with us.

Dwayne daring the waves again!

Beautiful!

We got a bit chilly and realized that we would be walking into the wind if we returned via the beach in the way in which we came... so we headed inland and found the paved path that runs parallel to the beach. Easier walking and not so much in the wind. The temperature was mid-to-high 60s, but chilly with the breeze.
