Out and about in the greater Palmdale/Lancaster CA area - Tuesday 2/9 - Part 1

Last week, when we decided that we would stay at a couple of California Thousand Trails parks this week and next, I used TripAdvisor to see what might be recommended to do. I saved about 6 places that sounded interesting on Dwayne's and my shared calendar and we set off today to find some of them.

First up was breakfast at Sonic. We headed toward Lancaster on Highway 14. We stopped at Vista Point Lamont Odett to take pictures of Palmdale Lake and the California Aqueduct.

Since the aqueduct makes a curve toward Highway 14, it makes it look like the picture is bent!

We made it to Sonic and I got my fix of breakfast burrito and sweet iced tea!

Next was to find a CVS pharmacy to fill Dwayne's pain medicine script; unfortunately, no luck with that as California pharmacies won't fill scripts from other states for controlled medications. Oh well, we are going to call a CVS pharmacy in Yuma and see if they will fill it; if not, we'll try to get him in to see a doctor in Yuma. Or maybe we'll try getting it in Mexico....

The top rated thing to do in Lancaster was the "Civic Musical Road". I was intrigued, and since our trip to Sonic and CVS had taken us into Lancaster, that was the first of the recommended places we went. I should have read the instructions on the speed to maintain a little more closely, and we couldn't exactly identify the tune, but it was fun anyway! We drove on it twice, the second time, Dwayne made a recording on his phone. This is my first try at uploading to YouTube and publishing... we'll see if it works!
