Around and about...

Some pictures from today (Monday):
We stopped at an overlook of Lake Itasca - I found this information very interesting - particularly how little difference there is between the highest and lowest elevations in Minnesota, and that the state is approximately in the middle of the North American continent.

The view of Lake Itasca from the overlook.

We returned to the Visitor Center to finish seeing the displays there.

They had these cute gliders out front (which were *very* uncomfortable to sit on!).

On our way back to our campground, one of the local farmers was transporting his round bales from the field.

Back at the campground, we decided to walk down to Lake La Salle.

There were a couple of rental cabins down closer to the lake.

It was quite a pretty lake.

Looks like some folks have brought their kayaks and canoes

Peaceful

My sweetie!

another view of Lake La Salle at the stream that exits from it (which eventually hooks up with the Mississippi)

We think these are Aspen trees - this happens to be a multi-trunk tree which are not very common. The aspens seem to generally be pretty small diameter trunked trees.

This appeared to be an older aspen.

At least, I think it was an aspen!

Going back up was a bit of a hike, but we enjoyed getting out and about.
