A walk around the campground

We arrived to Ponderosa RV Resort on Thursday in the pouring rain. We located our site and set up in the rain. Needless to say, we weren't terribly impressed with the campground at that point.

We woke up to a nice sunny day on Friday, and the campground looked a lot better!
We had driven down to the sites along the river when we were looking for a site, but elected not to stay down there as it seemed that the roads weren't all that great and the view of the river wasn't that great in the rain! Dwayne is ahead of me walking down the road and you see one of the "golden hills" of California beyond him.

Down along the river - it is *much* prettier when it isn't pouring rain! The warning sign tells rafters to stay to the left...

Dwayne down along the river. It is the South Fork of the American River.

This is at the restroom area - there are two rakes hanging at the spot labelled "Site Tools" - I guess if you want to do some work around your site.

A large log (about 3-4' in diameter) that was near the tent camping sites.

Just outside the campground was a Mexican food cafe / sundry shop. There were a couple of signs about their days to be open... this one says "CLOSED" then "Mon - Tu & Wed", "OPEN", "11AM to 7 PM"... and the lit sign in the window says, "OPEN"....

Then a large sign out front indicated that it was Open Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun....
The day we were there was Friday and it was open. I'm not making any bets about them being open on Monday-Wednesday...
This is where we chose to park Miss Doozie, primarily because we didn't have to drive very far in the campground to get to this site, and it seemed long enough for her and there was room to park the Jeep on the side. We stepped off a couple of the sites down near the river while we were walking and we estimated that Miss Doozie would have extended out pretty far into the driveway. The site where we are parked is in an area where there are not many sites, so no one is driving through here anyway (whereas there is more traffic down near the river). Unfortunately, the site is more unlevel that we estimated, and we haven't been able to get fully level, but... it's ok for a couple of days - we're leaving on Sunday.
We probably would not choose to return to this campground - the road to it from US50 is narrow and has low trees, and the campground isn't all that great in our opinion - very few full hookup sites, and many sites designated as "premium" (near river or 50A) and requiring additional $5 charge - and the sites and interior roads are not really "big rig friendly" (we had to do a two-point turn to make the curve coming up to this area of the campground). We had packages sent here (cat food and forwarded mail) so are grateful for their willingness to take care of our packages during our long delay in coming.
