Friday around Quartzsite

Well... the title isn't totally correct as the first picture is from the campfire on Thursday evening...
Every evening there is a campfire at the Birds' Nest

On Friday morning, I specifically went out to take pictures of the Blue Bird signposts... this is right at the entrance to the driveway into the "circle".

This is the arrow that I posted lit up on Thursday's post...

And the rock with the Blue Bird logo on it...

It is lit by a solar powered light that looks like a rock amongst Quartzsite local rocks!

A better picture of the signpost rock.
We drove back up to Plomosa Road to try to introduce Glen to some of the solos. Unfortunately, their rally had finished up on Tuesday and a lot of folks had pulled out, but at least he saw where the WINs (Wandering Individual Network?), LOWs (Loners on Wheels), and Solos park out in the desert.

Gary and Inez were still in the area where the Christian Fellowship Birds of a Feather (BOF) group parked, so we knocked on their door and got to visit with them!

I asked Inez if she would show us the piece that she has made that will be entered into the competition next month in Casa Grande. You can see the base in front of her, and there is an inner portion that is carved like coral that Glen is holding over to the right. She has a light that will go inside the coral piece to light the whole.

I really like sea turtles after our experiences with them when we were diving in Hawaii.

She has captured their beauty...

and their playfulness!

Will came up too so we had quite the reunion!

Dwayne, Inez, Will, Gary, and Glen

Chica set about to convince Glen that Chihuahuas are lovable...

Loving on him...

Giving him hugs...

Such a sweet Chica!

"See, Glen, I'm a sweetie!"

"You didn't know how sweet little dogs could be!"

I think Glen was ready to sneak Chica with him!

On our way back to the bus, we drove through some parts of Quartzsite that we hadn't visited before -- ended up at Mountain Quail Cafe for lunch... saw this teeshirt that I thought was cute!

And this sign next to the dessert display case that was rotating to show the dessert options!

Cute tea towel

News at the Birds' Nest for Friday

Activities for Friday - note that the Blue Bird Olympics were scheduled in the afternoon

In the Olympics, the red team with Arla as captain were the victors!

The yellow team with Mark as captain came in second!
It was great fun - a Trivial Pursuit type of game, with some local trivia questions thrown in for good measure!

Ending the day with a beautiful sunset!

With Friday night's campfire..

A few of the folks had started gathering at the campfire...

Just beautiful handiwork from God!
