Continuing north and west

Since we didn't know whether we could continue to stay at the site we had squeezed into at Manzanita Lake Campground, we decided to continue onwards on Thursday morning. We had no internet/cellular signal at the campground, but I had a downloaded copy of the Days End Directory and had identified some places we could check out and possibly stay.
One last picture of our tight campsite in Manzanita Lakes Campground.

We drove outside the park, about 3-4 miles up the road, and stopped at a Sno-Park location that Days End Directory had listed. It was easy to get into, we had great cellular signal (I wrote the post and uploaded pictures and videos from our visit on Wednesday to Lassen National Park while there on Thursday morning). We could have a shady spot on the other side of the parking lot, or sun for solar panels on the side where we parked...

This is the parking area in front of where we parked - I thought we were going to need to make a U-turn to get out, but, although it is not obvous, there is an exit road down at the end, so it was super easy leaving too!

There were rest rooms and a warming hut (for snowmobilers in the winter time) across the lot from us... and another parking area further down the hill too. If we ever come back to Lassen, we're just going to stay at the Sno-Park!
We considered staying at that Sno-Park for the whole day and overnight, but Days End Directory had given us some other options so we drove about 2 hours further north and west...
Mount Shasta was in front of us much of the way!

This is the view we had of Mount Shasta from our overnight location.

We're on a large gravel lot on the road up to the Mt Shasta Ski area.

We had to disconnect the Jeep to be able to turn around in the gravel lot - but that allowed us to drive further up in the Jeep. We found another location (which Days End also had listed) a little further up the mountain, but figured we were ok for the night at this location. There is an open building with gravel in it - probably for road treatment during snow.
Mount Shasta just beyond the front of Miss Doozie - beautiful!
