What a nice day!

We're on our third day and third different site at Valley of the Rogue State Park. This is what happens when you don't make plans and reservations ahead of time - you can't get into the same site for 3 nights (or even 2 nights) in a row. Ah well, we haven't had to drive far each day and each site has been uniquely beautiful.
Somehow I haven't managed to get a photo of the nearly perfect HUGE Christmas tree shaped trees around the park, but I dd get this one of a bluish tree that was pretty perfectly shaped.

This was a picture after we got into the second site (Saturday night's site) - we didn't realize that the people in the site across from us were packing up to leave (I thought they were unpacking to stay) - they had their car parked across the very base of their site - it was quite the challenge trying to squeeze Miss Doozie into the narrow site without hitting their car. If we had only known that they were leaving, we could have waited 10 minutes and had no issues at all!

In the site - it was narrow but VERY long. Behind us through the trees is the Rogue River.

Sunday morning we found that there was this wet stuff falling from the sky! I've heard some people call it "rain". After "attending" our church service from MacArthur Blvd via LiveStream, we checked and our next campsite was open, so Dwayne got us unhooked while I prepped the inside for the short trip to the next site. This picture is of Dwayne unhooking in the rain (can see him in the mirror).
A few weeks ago, I had "met" some folks on Facebook who were new members last year in the SKP Christian Fellowship group. They live in Rogue River and Liz reached out to me when I posted that we were heading to Grants Pass, so we met up with them on Saturday morning. Liz and Bob offered to give us a local's tour of some of their favorite places in the area and we arranged to get together with them on Sunday afternoon...

They took us all along the Rogue River in the part from Grants Pass down to Grave Creek...

So many beautiful stops along the way!

In some places we saw kayakers in the river...

These were practicing overturning and righting themselves in their kayaks.

Before they got to rapids just below them on the river where they might have to use those skills!

Liz and Bob and granddaughter were great hosts and tour guides!

More folks in the river...

These were preparing to go into the river for a longer trip - probably multiple days - down the "wild and scenic" part of the Rogue River.

When we came back through Grants Pass, they pointed out the many bear statues around town. The town has done a masterful job in ensuring that its quaint downtown area does not get overshadowed and eliminated by the "big box" stores on that are on the outskirts of town.
We had a wonderful day with Liz and Bob and their granddaughter and highly recommend their "tours with the locals"!!!
