On Friday, family and friends got together to place Dwayne's urn in the columbarium in Coppell where they will stay.
The niches are in a bookcase-looking device with glass fronts. The folks at the cemetery had removed the front glass and provided a ladder so we could access the niche. |
I printed one of the last pictures of Dwayne, along with his favorite verse (Isa 40:8) and framed it to have in the niche. I also got a name plate with his "dates" on it. I plan to get a block to put under the urn so it will be a little taller in the niche. Dwayne's brother, Darrell, placed all the items into the niche - I think he did a great job! |
You might notice that in the first picture above, that some of the niches under Dwayne's are two-wide - these are companion niches. Right now, all the companion niches that they have built are sold, but, the company plans to build some more niches when they move their offices to another building, and more companion niches will be available then. My plan is to trade-in our individual niches and get a companion niche and transfer Dwayne's cremains then. Ultimately, my urn and ashes will reside there too.
You can also see that others include items from their loved ones in the niches... one of the things I want to get is a rock (one of Dwayne's rocks!) because the name plate has a tendency to flip forward - and it would be appropriate to have a rock for Dwayne in the niche too!

Sherry had teeshirts made for us that have Dwayne's favorite verse, Isaiah 40:8, on the front, and "Two words... TRUST GOD" along with Dwayne's signature on the back. |

Our friends, Bud and Wanda, also joined us - but I unfortunately didn't get any pictures with them - it was great to hear stories from folks who shared memories of times with Dwayne.
