Down the Natchez Trace

As I indicated a few entries ago, we had tried driving a short distance on the Natchez Trace in Mississippi as we were considering driving down it on our way back to Texas. We weren’t sure we were going to be able to do it; after our emergency room visit, we thought we may need to head straight back to Coppell to try to see Dwayne’s regular physician. But, after the good report at the ER re-check, we decided to go ahead with our plan to head down the Trace.

After thinking about this for a couple of weeks, I wasn’t sure the actual experience was going to meet up to our expectations, but so far, it has been really great. We are spending this night at the campground at the Meriwether Lewis Historic Site.

Along the way, we have stopped at several pull-outs. At one, there was a lovely little stream – so clear and the sound was so peaceful. While we were there, several horseback riders came up and watered their horses in the stream.
