And this was supposed to be the "lightly" scheduled day!

The rally has not officially begun, but there were a few events today.

First though... after I blogged last night, we went for a walk around our parking area...
As is often the case... the sunset was beautiful!
As we were walking, we noticed a rig on the "next street over" from where we were walking that had the mural on the back that is common on Safari motorhomes, and I noticed a "Trek" designation, so we headed around the end of the "block" and walked over to see if the folks were anyone we knew... it turned out it was Don and Bette, who have exactly the same floorplan Trek that Miss Daisy was - we had met them two years ago at the Trek gathering in Quartzsite. They had purchased their Trek just a few months after we purchased Miss Daisy, and it likewise had a very small number of miles on it. We were both dealing with "new coach issues" on 10 year old coaches that had been very infrequently used by their previous owners.

While we were visiting with Don and Bette, God continued to paint masterpieces in the sky!
This morning, our first activity was to attend a session for First Timers to "orient" us to the rally. While we've never been to a national FMCA rally, we have been to the national Escapees rally twice (Escapade in Tucson in 2015 and Essex Junction, VT in 2016) and we attended the FMCA South Central Rally in October, 2014 (when we were REALLY newbies!) in Shreveport. It was still good to be able to visit with folks for whom this is their first rally. We met up with David and JoAnne who were the first members of the Christian Fellowship BOF that we met way back in December, 2014, in Livingston (and how we got connected with the Christian Fellowship BOF get-together in Quartzsite in January, 2015).

Charlie Adcock, FMCA President, spoke to the first timers during our session this morning. We had the opportunity to meet him at the Coaches for Christ rally in Durant, OK, in spring of 2016.

There are maps at various locations around the grounds - I like to know that "I am here"... but they actually mark the location with a red diamond instead of a star, I guess because there were already stars on the map for other purposes.
We also had a session in the afternoon to learn about our "Coffee Bar Volunteer" duties... that will start on Wednesday at 6:15am... should be interesting to see us get up to be in a location that is about a 20 minute walk away by 6:15am... I could have sworn they said it was only for one day, but it will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday... I'm already tired just thinking of it!

We also met up with friends Lorraine and Michael whom we met at Cactus Blossom...
and... I made a big purchase... no pictures of it yet, so will announce it later!

Today had the least events scheduled, but we were running from one place to another for most of the day! Maybe having more events scheduled will keep us from having to run around! At least the sessions are mostly near each other!
