In an effort to get them decoded to their real meanings, I searched for "decoding picture signs canada" - while the help found is minimal, I found that another American is likewise confused and making up their own meanings: https://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/2015/07/02/tycolumn/D39RVUckYXCyJRNTOd0sQP/story.html
We haven't seen the signs for "charcoal filtered cigarettes" or "twerking punishable by stoning" yet, but we've seen the others and wondered about each of them!
Yesterday, when we were finding the locations for the reversing rapids, I kept on noticing this kind of sign seemed to be pointing the way to where we were wanting to go:
"Sure, that's the sign for reversing rapids, right?" |
Someone needs to help out those who are picture-illiterate! |
However, it turns out that the reversing rapids visitor center is one of the stops on the Stonehammer tour... so it did work that we found the visitor center by following those signs!
I knew that we might run into folks who speak French as their first language, and I am ok with there being both French and English on signs, but... I really need subtitles for the pictographs!
