When we were in Hickory Creek near Lewisville, and met Lessie and Ed who own RoundTuit, Dwayne tried opening the engine compartment on Miss Doozie to show the converter box that we have for the Jeep lights. When he tried opening it, though, it was really hard to open, and we found that one of the engine cover struts had broken at the end. These are the struts that we waited around for most of December at National Indoor RV last year to get replaced. They needed to be ordered out of Canada and took a long long time to come in.
The good news was that this time, it was just the connector to the bus that was broken. Dwayne took the strut to National Indoor RV, and they had the connector available.
We had not put the strut back on though, until we were in Columbus at Colorado River Thousand Trails. We weren't sure whether we were going to be able to do it ourselves, but with the help of a 2x4 to help hold the weight of the engine compartment hood, we were able to get the strut put back on.
The strut before we put it back on. One of the bolts at the end had broken and had to be replaced. |
