Happy Birthday, Dwayne!!!

I have often said that the nicest thing a mother-in-law can do for her future daughter-in-law is to have her son on Valentines Day. Dwayne was born on Valentines Day, so it is always easy to remember his birthday and I get cards/gifts on his birthday, though it is often difficult to go out for dinner on his birthday!

Last week the T-Mobile Tuesday, we got a $2 movie ticket for today, so we after getting breakfast burritos at Sonic, we headed to the Yuma Harkins Theater to see "Lion". It is based on a true story and we enjoyed it. My favorite part was the pictures and video they showed at the end of the actual people experiencing the events depicted in the movie.

Then we were off to Harbor Freight! Wow, what fun, huh? We didn't end up purchasing anything there (the lines were really long!).

We tried a Mexican restaurant for a late lunch. It was ok... we had asked a couple who were leaving as we arrived and they indicated that service was quite slow - we had the same experience, slow and not very attentive service. But the food was pretty good.
From there we went to Home Depot. We had placed an order for a replacement drain plug for our two bathroom lavatories a few days ago. The existing drain plugs had gotten very discolored and we hadn't been able to get them clean, so thought that the finish must have deteriorated and that they needed to be replaced. We could order them online and have them sent to the store so decided to do that. Yesterday, Dwayne decided that, since we planned to replace them anyway, he would try some 0000 steel wool on the stoppers and see if they cleaned up - they did! Beautifully!!! The fixtures that we have are shiny brass Grohe circa 2000 fixtures - other than looking dated since they are the shiny brass finish, they are really nice fixtures... so, we're hoping brass comes back in style! We picked up the order and then immediately returned it.

We also looked at flooring options while we were at Home Depot. We haven't really found anything we like yet... we're hoping to replace the flooring in the bus when we get to Virginia in the springtime... We want to take out the carpet in the bedroom (it is 17 years old), and we don't like the cork that the previous owner put in the front of the bus (he replaced the front carpet) - the cork he used always looks dirty. We really like the colors of the laminate tile that is in the kitchen and bathroom area, but we had a water leak that caused several tiles to warp in the bathroom - so we've decided that we will replace all the flooring. We have been thinking that we should go with a high quality vinyl; laminate or hardwood is out as we believe that there will eventually be a water leak again, ceramic would add weight and we think that there would be issues with either tiles or the grout cracking.

We finished up with Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccinos at Starbucks.

Dwayne says that he had a very nice birthday and he appreciates all the wishes sent to him today!
