The story of our day...

We had decided that we wanted to try to get a library card with a library that would give us access to Overdrive, a source of ebooks and audiobooks. (We've become somewhat addicted to listening to recordings of books!)

The library that we had had a card with in Hawaii gave us that access, but that card has expired.
The library in the city of Livingston, where our address is now, had access, but when we called today, we found out that to initially get a card, we would need to go in to the library. After we have the card, we can renew it by mail. There is a $5 charge per year per card if you don't live in the city of Livingston (our address is in the country).

The library in Yuma has access, and they allow for non-residents to get a card for a fee. I had seen online that to get a card we needed to bring in a picture id and something that had come to us at the address in Yuma. I called the library to see if I needed to have that if I wanted a non-resident card - the person I spoke with suggested that I have a copy of the lease agreement from the RV park. While I probably could have gotten something from Mark, I asked if a package that had come to us from Amazon would be sufficient, and he said it would. The cost was $5 for a month, $15 for six months, or $25 for a year. Since we can use Overdrive from anywhere, and we're not sure when we'll get through Livingston to set up an account there, we decided to go ahead and consider it a $25 donation to a town where we like to visit and get a card for a year.
When we showed up at the library with Amazon shipment box in hand, the lady said that we could get a resident card!

So, now I have a Yuma County Library card good for a year!
Just as a cost comparison: a membership with Audible.com is $14.95/month for one audiobook per month. Granted if we want to get the most current audiobooks, there will probably be a waiting time, but we are listening to older books and there isn't a wait for them.

Some other pictures from our day...

It may be hard to tell what is going on... but Dwayne was crushing a plastic bottle with his foot and it got stuck, so he was walking around making strange tracks in the sand!

We noticed this older RV at the house where we turn into the neighborhood where we're staying - and think it is another one of those rigs like Jimmy was telling us about?

We decided to make hamburgers this evening...

Checking to see if the grill is ready - the burgers were good!!!
