Tetris skills at the food pantry

Many years ago, I enjoyed playing Tetris on the computer - if you've never played it, the game involves positioning randomly occurring shapes to fill complete lines...

On Tuesday in the food pantry, we were preparing for Thanksgiving food distribution to our "neighbors" who would be coming in the next few days. One item that needed to be staged were 30 frozen hams...
We initially tried stacking them in one of the compartments of the three-door freezer... let's just say that they were NOT cooperating...

And we still had more to place...
What I needed was a "dam" that would prevent the hams in front from getting pushed out by the hams in the back... the last thing we wanted was a ham falling out on someone's foot when they open the door - painful to the foot and not the greatest plan for the ham either!

So... I took all of them out, and put a crate at the bottom of the freezer compartment. This provided the "dam" I needed...

And I was able to get all but one into the bottom section of the compartment. We tried several different ways to get that one ham into the area with the others, but... it is not only desirable that the hams *not* fall out, but also that the hams are able to be removed one at a time... again, without additional hams falling out. Sandra had to keep on reminding me that we needed to be able to get them *out* too...
Ultimately, we also put a couple of turkeys in the freezer (so far, we have not received a large donation of turkeys), as well as a number of whole chickens that will be provided to the folks with smaller families (1-4 members).
