Garden visits

At a point during their child-rearing years, Keith and Ruth Ann lived on the campus of OARDC (Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center). While there, their "back-yard" was Secrest Arboretum (https://oardc.osu.edu/facility/secrest-arboretum) and their "formal gardens" were provided by Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI, http://undergrad.osu.edu/regional-campuses/ati). So, after visiting the auction at Mount Hope on Wednesday, Keith and Ruth Ann shared these special places with us!

In this picture of the beautiful walking path, you can see some of the trees that are bare (sticking up above the others) that were damaged by the EF-2 tornado that hit this area in 2010.
A "buckeye" plant - "Buckeye" is the nickname for residents of Ohio.
Beautiful asters

Another Buckeye tree...

... some of the fruit...

... the buckeye tree.

After visiting the Secrest Arboretum, we made a short drive over to ATI.

There were some more formal gardens in this area.
The students learn-by-doing in the gardens.

We had such a shady yard in Texas that I am particularly fond of shady gardens.

I had not heard of this flower before, Lisianthus. Ruth Ann said that there was a talk on Tuesday at the Farm Science Review that indicated that this was a flower that was good to grow for selling as cut flowers.

It was very pretty...

These look like tiny pom-poms...

Then there was a section of "All-Amercan Selections Display Garden".

There were a lot more than just peppers in the display garden, but it appears that's all that I have pictures of!

I thought these peppers were so interesting in their shape!

The name "Mad Hatter" suits them!

More of gardens in the shade

This plant reminded me of something out of a Dr Seuss book!

Beautiful!
We enjoyed our garden visit with Keith and Ruth Ann!
