Our visit to the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum - the MH part

Now, I don't know whether you would have made the same mistake that I did - when I saw the name of this place, I thought it was the "Recreational Vehicle / Motorhome Hall of Fame and Museum" - and I wondered why it was named that way as Motorhomes are just a specific kind of Recreational Vehicle. But, after we viewed the informational movie in the museum, we came to understand that "MH" is for "Manufactured Home".

There were not as many displays for the manufactured homes, but here are a few that we found interesting:
This was a model of a tower that was proposed for urban dwelling manufactured homes - interesting, isn't it?

I guess it was never built - they seemed to have had issues with getting water to higher stories on a 3-story prototype (https://www.treehugger.com/modular-design/vertical-trailer-park-was-proposed-1966.html). Maybe it was an idea that was a little ahead of its time.

The look of this tower reminded me of the Marina Towers in Chicago:

These were next door to the IBM building where the education center was when I was teaching. (link to google maps)

I (and maybe others) called them the "corn cob buildings" (link to street view of corn cob buildings)
Don't they remind you of the SkyeRise Terrace model pictured above?

There was a manufactured home model on site for us to see...

Our friends in Nevada, Nancy and Steve, have recently gotten a manufactured home put onto their property. I was surprised at how nice it was... and this model home was equally as nice.

Nancy and Steve elected to get a manufactured home because construction workers are pretty much non-existent where they are - it would take a very long time and cost a lot to get a house built. Their manufactured home came in two halves and was set up very quickly. Definitely would be an option to consider if we ever decide to build a house on a piece of land.
