Visiting Quad-Cities institutions

After attending church with Will on Sunday, we had lunch with some of his friends from church at Maid-Rite:

...butcher Fred Angell... worked to get just the right combination of a special cut and grind of meat and a selected blend of spices. When a deliveryman tasted Fred's new creation, he said, "This sandwich is made right."
With that, the Maid-Rite was born. Fred was quite a sandwich maker but not much of a speller.
After lunch, we went to Whitey's for ice cream and malts (https://www.whiteysicecream.com/history/)
It is great to have a "local" to show you around!

By the way, the "Quad Cities" refers 5 cities in the southeastern corner of Iowa (Davenport and Bettendorf) and northwestern part of Illinois (Rock Island, Moline, East Moline) - yes, that's right, "Quad" (4) Cities refers to *5* cities as East Moline grew in size and overtook Bettendorf, instead of changing the moniker to Quint Cities, they just were inclusive and kept the name Quad Cities. Factories that were once in this area include International Harvester (including Farmall), Case IH, Caterpillar, and John Deere.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quad_Cities
