Visit to FDR Little White House - part 2 - State Stones

On the grounds, there was a display of "State Stones" - "As a tribute to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia contributed a specimen of native stone for a memorial. Beautiful in color, finish and design, there are many different varieties of stone. The collection was completed in 1959."

The Texas state stone was Red Granite, and the plaque indicated that the state motto was "Friendship" - neither Dwayne nor I knew anything about that being the Texas state motto.

The state stone of Virginia was indicated as soapstone, and the motto, "Thus to tyrants" (Sic Semper Tyrannus - it is also on the state flag - I knew that motto!)
