Today was a sunny though cool day, so we decided to drive down to the US/Canadian border to see what kind of border control existed there.
We drove south a little way from the campground to a road that we could see on the map that appeared to be right on the US/Canadian border. You may be able to see on the Garmin the grey line representing the border and the arrow representing the Jeep right along it. |
There was a small cut in the trees along the mountains |
Cropped version of the picture... |
Along the south side of the road was a small marker - on the north side marked "Canada", |
On the south side marked "United States", |
And with information about the Treaty of 1846 on the east side. |
Dwayne and the marker - no barrier for entering the US here... not sure how far you'd hike to find a road on the other side. |
Then we drove to Cultus Lake to see if we could get some pictures of the lake with the sun and clouds...
We found a picnic area and beach where we could get to the lake - it was beautiful! |
I think the town of Cultus Lake is on the far side (north side of the lake). |
Dwayne out on the dock - we saw a worker there doing some maintenance on the pavilion. He said that the dock would be brought up out of the lake in the next couple of days. |
Maybe when we get back into the US and have higher speed internet I can include some of the pictures Dwayne took while we were there at the lake.
The ripples of the lake from us walking on the dock and the clouds were so beautiful. |
There are not many deciduous trees here, so not much in the way of fall colors to be seen, but still gorgeous. |
We plan to head back to Washington state tomorrow, to a campground near Blaine, which is the upper northwestern part of the mainland part of Washington - to the west of there is Vancouver Island.
