Geese and Crop Signs

Dwayne took some pictures of the geese on the river a couple of days ago, but I had not copied them off of his computer until today:
Geese at the shore below the campground

Neat picture of 3 geese flying (Dwayne calls it "6 Geese")
I had been watching the travels of cousins Brandon and Ashlee via Facebook - I knew that they were near Glacier National Park, and were heading west. The pictures Ashlee posted yesterday looked like the same view we had from Miss Doozie, so I sent her a message - it turns out they have been here at the same RV park (they arrived Monday, we arrived Tuesday). They were leaving this morning, so we only had time for a quick hug before waving them away - but we are hoping we will meet up with them at another Thousand Trails park down the road!

It really wasn't much clearer from the smoke today, but we decided to drive out and look at some of the crop fields in the area.

We first drove down to Crescent Bar Recreation Area - this is on a sand bar just a little ways down the road (and downhill) from us.
We drove through what looks like a pretty new campground. I looked up information about it after we got back to the rig (https://www.crescentbarrecreation.com/camping/) - it sounds like it is electric only at this point, and $40/night. It has a nice location with some sites right on the river, but... $40/night seems a bit high to me.

Dwayne told me that there was a sign like this on I-90 also (I was not driving at the time so I wasn't paying attention).
The fields that are nearest to where we are staying all appear to be fruit trees - apples, I think - we drove down a couple of the roads and once you're off of the main road the crops are not signed. This was as we came back onto the main road and it says "Honey Crisp" apples.

There was a LOT of traffic on the main roads - a lot of trucks carrying produce - so we weren't having success getting pictures until we noticed that there were dirt roads off the main highway between the highway and the fields, so we enjoyed bumping along on them.

Dwayne's camera's picture allows you to see that there were irrigation units in the field.

Field corn across the highway from the dirt road we were on (there was a dirt road on that side too, but in this case, the sign was between the dirt road and the highway).

A small area between the irrigated Alfalfa and some housing.

Hay storage. The smaller stack in front said "Hay for sale" with a phone number. Another place we saw it indicated as $8/bale.

Not specific as to type of "Apples"

Timothy hay - here you can see the irrigation mechanism. I found it interesting that here the irrigation mechanism seemed to march straight across the field, not in a circle.

An irrigation ditch

I thought this was funny - the sign says "Turf Grass", and maybe some of it is growing the Turf Grass - but if you look closely you might see that there are golfers in the background... it is a golf course.

My honey got a picture of me as I was out taking a picture...

We think that these were small fruit trees.

Some more hay storage

We stopped and purchased some sweet corn in town - YUM!!!

They were harvesting the field corn in a lot of the fields. This one looks like it is ready for harvest.

Although it has been smoky and not very nice for being outside, we like this campground and would like to return, hopefully when there aren't so many fires!
