After three rallies, it was time to head home. We had about
10 days before we planned to leave again, this time for a trip towards the east
coast to visit family and friends.
During this time at home, we had a number of things we
wanted to get resolved:
- We had purchased a central vacuum cleaner while at the Six State Rally, and we wanted to get it installed.
- We had also purchased a tire monitoring system at the Six State Rally – we had gotten it programmed to monitor the tires of both the Trek and the Jeep, but we wanted to get the “amplifier” installed in the back of the coach that would ensure that the monitor in the front of the Trek could get the signal from the Jeep.
- We wanted to install the CO monitor. We also needed to uninstall the old CO monitor – which provided us with the wiring for the tire monitoring system amplifier.
- We wanted to get the manual emergency brake fixed so it would be able to be set.
- We needed to get Aunt Libby’s genealogical materials packed so we could take them to cousin Marty.
- Dwayne’s 50th high school reunion was scheduled for the weekend of 10/17 and he had events on Friday evening and Saturday.
Dwayne got the vacuum installed – he did an amazing job – it
looks like it has always been there! We got the tire monitoring system
amplifier installed and the CO monitor installed.
We talked with Glenn about what to do about the manual
emergency brake; Bob, from Standard Spring and Axle recommended that we needed
a new brake assembly. Glenn suggested that we try ordering the brake assembly
from Brazel’s in Washington State. Dwayne called there and asked if they could
order it. Erica contacted someone who seemed to be an expert on Workhorse
chassis, and he was asking her things that she didn’t know the answers, so she
called Dwayne back. She put the Workhorse guy and Dwayne on the phone together.
The Workhorse guy asked if Dwayne was near the rig, and asked Dwayne to get
into the driver’s seat. He said to push down the emergency brake and then pull
on the dash above the brake release – amazingly, the brake then caught! Guess
we aren’t the first ones with this particular problem…
We attended events for Dwayne’s 50th high school
reunion – John Skinner had a great get-together at his home on Friday evening
and we got to chat with several folks. On Saturday morning, Dwayne attended a
breakfast at Lakewood Country Club with other alums and then went to Woodrow
for a school tour hosted by the current principal. Finally, we attended a
dinner/dance Saturday evening at a hotel in Dallas.
