God bless helpers! And Dwayne's trip home...

Oh my goodness - what would we have done without help????

Glenn and Eileen were so wonderful to share information about their Trek!
The folks on Trek Tracks are truly the best feature about owning a Trek!
My brother was amazing!  He and Dwayne changed out all the fluids and got new house batteries for the Trek.
And Regina and Jimmy both were welcoming to their brother-in-law coming and staying and working on a motorhome in their yard!

In a few short days after the purchase, Dwayne started the long drive toward Texas. He would drive several hours each day, and then call me to let me know what he would be near to try to find a campground.

The first night, I chose really well - check out the site where he was:

The second day, he wanted to get past Atlanta before rush hour... he didn't quite make it, but managed to get around Atlanta unscathed. I found a campground for him the second night that was just off the interstate, not as nice as the first one.

The third day, he bumped along the Louisiana interstates (he said that the sounds of the cabinetry creaking and groaning was amazing). We decided that he would "boondock" at the Texas Travel information center, just inside the Texas state line from Shreveport, for his third and last night on the road. He said that there were truckers all around, and when he woke in the morning to the lowing of cattle in the livestock truck next to him, he thought he might be back on Jimmy and Regina's farm!

Finally, as he was coming across I-635 on the north side of Dallas, nearly home, he had his first "incident". In the midst of all the construction, he was in the left lane, and while passing an 18-wheeler, "clipped" mirrors, causing his right side mirror to flip in and rendering him blind on that side of the coach. In a motorhome, that's a really big deal, as your only visibility to anyone on your right side is via the mirror.  So, as soon as he was out of the construction zone, he sped up to 85mph to pass any vehicles he could see to the right and then exited at MacArthur Boulevard. When he got to a stopping point, though he had feared that the mirror was broken, he found that he could use a special tool and put it back out.
