Around and about

These are pictures from Friday (yesterday), later in the day after my post from yesterday.

We drove back down into Mayhill. The campground has a potluck on Saturday, and we wanted to have something to bring... I used to always have makings for several different pot luck options on board, but for some reason seem to be out of several ingredients. The convenience store in Mayhill had one item that I needed, so we are set for the potluck.

On the road down, we saw a flat open area a ways off the road, and thought it looked like it might be a cemetery. Dwayne marked where he thought the road was into it, so on our way back, we took a narrow dirt track about 3/4 of a mile in to this cemetery. I found this website: http://genealogytrails.com/newmex/otero/cemetery/MountainAcres.htm that has information about the people who are buried there.

I saw this pretty flower growing there - it is very dry here - the grass crackles underfoot as you walk.

This interesting wooden marker was near the back of the cemetery. According to the website that I included above, it marks the grave of Charles (Chuck) McKennan.

After we returned to the bus, I took Miss Kitty out - she enjoyed rolling in the dust!

Dwayne set about to figure out how to get the belt re-installed on the engine...

He had it all figured out what needed to be loosened to make it possible to put the belt back on. He used his calipers to measure to know what the dimensions were before he loosened so we could be sure to get it back at least as tight.

And it worked! We got the belt that had been thrown off put back in place, and we got the whole assembly in place a little tighter than before. He is thinking that the belts may have loosened over time and that is the reason that the belt came off.

Both belts back in place. We started up Miss Doozie and everything seemed to move appropriately!
I'm thankful to have a resourceful husband!

And we went to the potluck this evening and enjoyed meeting and talking with some of the other campers as well as the owners of the RV park.
