Artesia

We drove up to Artesia today. It is a little closer than Carlsbad (17 miles versus 23 miles) and from what we've heard from folks here at The Ranch, it is where they tend to go for shopping, doctors, eating out, etc.

We didn't have any particular plans on what to see, but Dwayne had seen an article about some bronze statues in a tourist magazine, so we decided to seek them out. They were neat to see and informative about some of the history of the area!

The first 3 were all in a park and had to do with the oil industry.

Neat story, huh?

The third of the three in the park:

The next one was down Main Street a little ways...

From there we could see the next one... which was part of three - We saw the second of the three first....

From there we could see the first and the third - we walked to the third of the three first:

And finished this group of three with seeing the first of the set:

By this point, we were HOT, so we headed back to the Jeep - but on our way out of town, we saw the one that I think was my favorite:

We didn't have any particular expectations when visiting Artesia today, but thoroughly enjoyed seeing these bronze statues - although it was VERY HOT (100F + today).
