Dwayne's pictures from around the Ranch

Updated: I asked for some help on bird identification from friends on Facebook and our friend, Beth, contacted me with some help!

Dwayne went out with his camera and tripod this morning after church and got some great pictures - warning - there are a lot of them!

Dwayne was focused on the dove that was on the wire, and it decided to fly just as he snapped the shutter!

On the fence around the water treatment lake...

Look at that tail!

"You lookin' at me?"

Our friend, Beth, tells me that this is a scissor tailed flycatcher, the state bird of Oklahoma!

A quail...

I looked them up and I think they are called "Scaled Quail" - due to the feathers around their neck looking like fish scales.

Another one saying, "You lookin' at me?"

A look at the park from the "back forty".

For target practice?

Some doves

One of the couples that we have met here have their lot on the "back forty" - Dwayne didn't see any hummingbirds when he was there...

But he did see other birds...

Friend Beth thinks this may be a house finch.

I think this is the Bronzed Cowbird.

According to some of the folks here at the campground, they lay their eggs in another bird's nest and knock the eggs of the other bird out. Then the other bird sits on the eggs and hatches them and raises the cowbird chicks.

Such iridescent colors!

Dwayne thought my brother might appreciate this rifle on the rack on the 4-wheeler...

Finally, a roadrunner...
