Tabitha to the doctor... so a quick trip to Burlington area of Vermont

Tabitha has been having some digestion issues over the past few days. After checking with our vet in Coppell, we decided that she should see a vet to ensure that it isn't something serious. We debated about seeing a vet in Maine early today (today was the day we were to start driving to Vermont), but thought that might not be a good idea if it turned out that she needed additional follow-up care. So, we contacted one of Patti's former co-workers in the Burlington area, and he recommended a vet that they had previously used, and we were able to get an appointment for later in the afternoon.

So, instead of a more leisurely relaxed drive across from Maine to Burlington, we decided to take the interstate route which took us almost back to Boston and then back up into Vermont. It was about 100 miles further than the direct route across, but we felt that we had less potential for long slowdowns (construction) and probably better roads.

One of the things that we are finding a little "disconcerting" about most of the non-limited-access roads in New England is that they have quite a crown, which means that we drive leaning sideways a lot of the time.... which isn't terrifically comfortable. Although I know it isn't the case, it feels like we're going to turn over on the side all the time. In addition, a lot of the roads have a very broken-down surface where the passenger-side tires roll - so not only does the road lean, but the right side of the road is even lower than it should be. We wanted to try US Highway 2 across just to see how it was, but our friend Dennie had cautioned against it, so maybe it is just as well that we did the longer highway route.

So, we are now in the WalMart parking lot in Williston, VT with quite a few other RVers, many of whom are probably also going to the Escapade (some are going to the Escapees bootcamp that starts tomorrow).

As un-enthused as Tabitha was about going to the vet, she was even more un-enthused with having her picture taken.

And taking a selfie was no more satisfying to her...
The vet didn't find anything obvious so gave her some subcutaneous fluids and gave me some meds to try to settle her stomach. The hope is to see improvement by the weekend - I sure want that because the litter box situation in a "tiny house" is challenging under the best of times - and pretty nearly unacceptable when one of the kitties is not feeling well!
