Visiting more areas on Mount Desert Island

Since we were up so early for the sunrise, we decided to take advantage of the relatively uncrowded roadways to visit some other areas.

Our CD took us down Sargeant Drive and to wharf area in Northeast Harbor.
We stopped along Somes Sound, one of the very few US fjords - a deep narrow valley carved by glaciers and filled with sea water. In almost every spot that you look into the water, you will see various colored floats marking each lobsterman's traps.

A view back up Somes Sound.

The CD took us to the wharf area of Northeast Harbor and we enjoyed looking at the boats there...

boats and boats and boats...

and more boats...

This black and white boat's name was "Sunbeam" and it wasn't until we were walking away from it that I noticed the cross on the hull and on the back upper part of the boat.
We also got to see some lobster traps in this wharf area:
There are two openings on the left side of the trap that lead into an area where the lobster can then go through into the right side of the trap.

These looked like brand new ones stacked on a trailer at the wharf.

Here the entry part is on the right side.
